Seattle Colleges offer options for students affected by ITT Tech closure

Sept. 15 Open House at Seattle Central College for prospective students to provide program, enrollment information

ITT Tech students can learn about programs and support services offered throughout the Seattle Colleges District during an Open House on Thursday, Sept. 15, from 3 to 7 p.m. Representatives from North Seattle College, South Seattle College as well as the event’s host, Seattle Central College, will be on hand to answer questions and provide important information about the application process.

Last week, ITT Tech, a national chain of for-profit educational institutions, announced an immediate closure in response to measures put in place by the U.S. Department of Education. This closure affected three campuses in Washington state, including in Seattle and Everett.

To help students affected by the closure, each college in the District has designated a staff member who will work directly with them on issues such as identifying the right program, securing financial aid, applying, and more.

“These students are undoubtedly feeling uncertainty about their next steps, given this closure happened right before fall classes were set to begin. We at the Seattle Colleges are here to support them in any way possible,” Chancellor Shouan Pan said.

The Seattle Colleges, where Fall Quarter begins Sept. 26, offer a variety of programs that can help former ITT Tech students and others prepare for rewarding careers. Certificates, associate degrees and bachelor’s degrees in Information Technology (IT), Business and many other fields are designed with industry input to ensure students learn the skills that employers need.
