Our History

The Wood Technology Center first began in 1936 as the Edison Vocational Boat school on the north shore of Lake Union. Carpentry and Cabinetmaking / Millwork classes were added in 1946 at Broadway High School and by the mid-50′s transferred to their present location as the Gomper’s branch of Edison Technical. The Washington State Community College system absorbed the programs in 1967 when Gompers became part of Seattle Central College. Officially renamed in 1994, the school is now known as the Wood Technology Center (formerly the Wood Construction Center).
