Discover the joys of urban farming in the Science and Math Plant Science Laboratory / greenhouse as you learn about edible gardening. You will take a seed to maturity and learn how to match up herbs to their names through herb identification. Our seed source is Seed Saver Exchange, a nationally recognized group committed to "collecting, conserving, and sharing heirloom seeds and plants."
The plants we grow in our greenhouse will help you better understand how herbs enhance recipes prepared in our Seattle Culinary Academy kitchens for our student run dining rooms.
We recycle food scraps too. All non-protein scraps from our Culinary Arts class (CUL 111) are used in our worm bins to produce compost for our plants to survive and thrive.
