Curriculum Mapping
The Instructional Assessment Planning Group adopted a new model for outcomes assessment at Seattle Central in 2007. This model is adapted from the work of Ruth Stiehl and Les Lewchuck of The Learning Organization.

- Ruth Stiehl and Les Lewchuk. The Assessment Primer. OR: The Learning Organization, c2008. LB2822.75.S75 2008.
All three of these books are available in the library. Faculty and deans read the Outcomes Primer before their programs created their curriculum maps. These maps were created during the fall and winter quarters of 2007-2008 and the intial maps were created for all programs by the end of winter quarter. Dr. Debra Gilchrist, Pierce College provided training to administrators and lead faculty and the facilitators who assisted in this curriculum mapping initiative.
The Program Review Committee now uses the curriculum maps and Program Outcome Guides (POGs) in the review process. Eventually Course Outcome Guides (COGs) will be used in the course approval process.
