About the Program

The Apparel Design and Development program at Seattle Central College is the most technically oriented design program in the region with a reputation as a center for relevant and innovative learning. Our comprehensive curriculum prepares you with the professional skills to launch your fashion career.

Career Opportunities

For 70 years, we have provided effective design and technical career training, and have placed thousands of graduates in the marketplace. Located in Seattle’s vibrant Capitol Hill neighborhood, the school enjoys strong partnerships with apparel companies — in the Northwest, nationally and internationally. Many of our alumni have risen as top leaders in our industry.

Employers rely on the Apparel Design and Development program for employees who bring relevant skills to their companies. Our graduates are prepared for a wide variety of jobs within the industry, including:

  • Designers
  • Technical Designers
  • Patternmakers
  • Stylists
  • Costumers
  • Production Managers
  • CAD Specialists
  • Fabric Developers

In addition to finding success with more traditional employers, many of our graduates choose to work on a freelance basis or to start their own businesses.

Philosophy

Creative

We are passionate about our industry and always take the extra step to bring out the best creative work in our students — we do this by providing skill development and the needed support to pave the way for learning.

Innovative

We inspire our students with an innovative curriculum taught by faculty who bring dedication and industry experience to the classroom.

Vibrant

We bring the vibrancy of our urban setting on Seattle’s Capitol Hill into the classroom. Students work in 10,000 square feet of studio space equipped with up-to-date technology and industrial equipment.

My education at Seattle Central College has been one of the contributors to my success as a valued leader in the fashion industry.
