Celebrating 50 years of being Central to the Community

Dear Friends:

Seattle Central truly is “Central to the Community.”

That was the message you no doubt heard if you were able to attend our community event last Thursday, which kicked off a year-long celebration of the college’s 50th anniversary. It was also apparent in the incredible turnout, in the informative displays that chronicled the college’s role in social activism, and in the community march that paid tribute to our college’s long history of fostering social activism.

The energy and enthusiasm among those in attendance – which included a great mix of faculty, staff, students, former employees and community members – was compelling, exciting and utterly infectious. With more 50th anniversary events scheduled throughout the upcoming year, I look forward to continuing to honor Seattle Central’s role in providing affordable and accessible education that can help lessen the prosperity divide in our city. There will be plenty of opportunities to join in the celebration!

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for everything you do to help Seattle Central fulfill its mission. We are well-positioned to help future generations of students in the next 50 years because of our deep ties to people like you, who form the community we are resolutely determined to serve with the best educational programs possible.

Sincerely,
Sheila Edwards Lange, Ph.D.
