Nursing students host health promotion fair
Nursing students earned valuable experience distributing health information with their peers earlier this month at a Health Promotion Fair they hosted on campus. Each of the seven cohorts of second-year nursing students were required to have a booth with a presentation about a health topic relevant to students on campus, an assignment for their Health Promotion and Nursing Leadership class.
Topics covered included contraception, smoking cessation, over the counter medicines, immunizations, proper hydration, nutrition and fitness. In presenting on the importance of hand washing, one group of students contacted the King County Department of Health, which provided hand sanitizers and pocket flashlights to give away as prizes. The Department of Health will feature an article about the student presentations in their monthly newsletter.
