Metro transit fares to increase next month

Metro fare increases will take effect March 1, 2015. Fares will increase by 25 cents per trip in all current fare categories, including adults, youth, seniors and people with disabilities, for all regularly scheduled transit services. The fare will increase by 50 cents per trip for Access paratransit service, which serves people with disabilities who can’t use regular bus service.

For the first time, Metro will offer a new ORCA LIFT reduced fare of $1.50 per trip for riders that qualify for the program. To qualify in Seattle, a person must live in a household where the income is less than twice the federal poverty level, or $47,700 for a family of four. ORCA LIFT cards are a separate program from the standard ORCA cards available to students and staff through Transportation Services at Seattle Central.  Most students likely qualify for the LIFT program and for now, those who qualify are recommended to get their cards through that program.

Both students and employees who qualify for ORCA LIFT cards can receive them on campus in the Student Support Program office at 907 E. Pine on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
