Foundation receives large donation from mother of former faculty

The Seattle Central Foundation recently received one of the largest gifts in its history: a donation of $315,412 from the mother of a former Seattle Central faculty member.

After hearing about the Seattle Promise, the scholarship program launched by the Foundation last year, the donor, Jean Tice, contacted the Foundation. Of the total donation, $90,000 will be used solely for the Seattle Promise, with the remainder used to create a scholarship in the family’s name.

The donor, now 91 years old, was a homemaker and part of an investment club. Each month, she invested money after conducting a significant amount of research on her chosen companies.
