David Moise

A full-time teacher at SCCC since 1987, David has a strong background in all aspects of publishing and printing education. He has taught graphic arts and publishing since 1979 at the high school, university and community college levels. Prior to that, he worked in prepress, press and finishing production in both northern and southern California. He is a past president of CraftNet Seattle, and actively participates in all the other major professional organizations.

David continues to be excited about the way new technology is expanding publishing’s creative potential, an enthusiasm expressed in his teaching and in helping students find lifelong, satisfying careers. Chris Sullivan

Chris Sullivan

Full time Instructor

ike many people, Chris was headed in a different direction—mechanical engineering—when he shifted gears into graphic design, which he studied as a "release" from his community college major. He ultimately graduated with a design degree from Central Washington University in Ellensburg, but changed direction again when offered a job with a printing company that required all-around skills in camera, bindery and platemaking.

While keeping his publishing skills sharp, Chris remains active in design. A favorite part of his job is sharing his technical problem-solving ability with students from different backgrounds, who make teaching worthwhile for him. In his limited spare time, he meets with industry representatives to gather information about new trends in the field, to tailor curriculum to meet current demand. He’s a gadget lover and sports fan who enjoys discussing both.

Patty Carlisle

Patty Carlisle

Part time Instructor

Teaching at SCCC has been a long-term goal for Patty. After assistant teaching here in 1976, while completing her BS in Botany, she was introduced to the college's unique learning community, and inspired to pursue a Master's in Botany. In 1980, however, distracted by a paying job in a state-of-the-art newspaper printing company, she got hooked on printing, performing every task from customer service to bindery.

Since 1983, she has co-owned and operated a small Seattle printing company specializing in small format one- and two-color printing, which has grown into a thriving business with five presses. The business still allows Patty to work regularly in digital prepress, press and bindery, as well as serving as the operations manager.

Patty finds working with students always exciting and interesting. The constantly changing industry offers enjoyable challenges for teaching a diverse, dynamic group of students.

Ed Harrington

Ed Harrington

Instructional Technician

Ed discovered his affinity for printing in 1998, and since then has worked many jobs in the industry, from prepress to bindery. He enjoys the ever-changing environment, the challenge of problem solving and continued learning. He returned to school to learn the trade, graduating from what was then called Graphic Imaging and Printing Technology at SCCC in 2001.

As the Publishing Arts instructional technician and production manager, he works with all students on a range of equipment, as well as ensuring smooth facility operation.
