The SCCC Biology department is comprised of staff, faculty, and students dedicated to the scientific and enthusiastic the study of Life! The courses we offer cover a wide range of biological disciplines.

Biology courses are offered for both students intending to major in this fascinating subject and student non-majors interested in a specific topic or overview of the field.

Anatomy and Physiology courses of the highest caliber prepare students for a variety of fields, including research, medicine, biotechnology

Botany

Botany classes offer a comprehensive view of the Plant Kingdom and an opportunity to learn plant identification

Environmental Science

Environmental Science courses emphasize understanding environmental issues and problems, including topics such as ecosystems, populations, air and water pollutions, biogeochemical cycling.

Health

Health courses address current health education and wellness theories, concepts and lifestyles.

Nutrition

Nutrition courses emphasize the relationship of nutrition to growth, development, health, physical and mental functioning.

Oceanograhy

Oceanography courses survey the ocean in terms of physical, chemical, geological, and biological processes and the human influence upon the ocean’s natural equilibrium.

Biotechnology

Biotechnology classes offered through the Biology department encompass the Core Laboratory series of the program.
