Under-Age Students (students under the age of 18)

Please note:  Effective Fall Quarter, 2008, all applicants must be 17 years of age at the time of enrollment or have completed high school.

For Winter, Spring and Summer, 2008, Seattle Central welcomes mature, highly motivated, independent and academically prepared students 17 years of age. Although Seattle Central offers Fast Track: High School Completion, it is not a public high school. The college normally serves students 18 years of age or older. The average age of students at Seattle Central is 25. Under-age applicants who apply to Seattle Central should be prepared to interact with older students, and to complete courses at the college level.

Adimission and Academic Transcripts

All under-age applicants who have not completed high school are required to submit academic transcripts for review. Applicants must have above-average results (B-average or higher) in order to be accepted.

Students who do not meet the minimum grade requirement can be reconsidered for admission once they are 18 years of age, or when they graduate from high school, whichever comes first.

Liability Waiver

Seattle Central strongly suggests that under-age students have an adult who can act on their behalf living in the United States . In the event of personal emergency, accident, illness, or incarceration, the State of Washington may require the signature of an adult before assistance (such as medical operations and legal counsel) can be offered. The College is not permitted to act in place of the parent or other responsible adult.
At the time of registration, students are strongly encouraged to submit the following Under-age Student Agreement Form (pdf) and the Waiver of Liability Consent Form (pdf). The Under-age Student Agreement Form is to be signed by the responsible adult in the United States. The Waiver of Medical Liability / Medical Consent form should be signed by the students' parents or responsible adult . Students who make arrangements with one of our homestay agencies may submit copies of the agency's agreement forms (see "Accommodations" below).

Accommodations for Under-Age Students

Students under the age of 18 are normally not able to rent an apartment or house in Washington State without a co-signing adult. Seattle Central strongly suggests that, unless students under the age of 18 will stay with family / friends that can act as responsible adults in the Seattle area, they make arrangements for accommodations through one of the homestay agencies on our website, which provides services for minors. All agencies on our website require that parents sign forms related to the provision of health care, and behavior agreements for minor students. If you would like more information on this requirement, please contact the homestay agencies directly.
