SCCC in the Media

Over the years, Seattle Central Community College has been the subject of many articles in national and local newspapers, and received several media awards for the overall quality of its programs and services, as well as its high success rate in transferring students to TOP universities all over the US.

• In a one-time study (2001 - 2002), TIME Magazine named Seattle Central "College of the Year" for outstanding student services and educational programs, the only 2-year college selected out of 1,200 in the U.S.
  
• In May 2007, in the article "For Achievers, A New Destination", the New York Times selected Seattle Central Community College, among 10 other U.S. community colleges nationwide, for the success of its students interested in transferring to 4-year colleges and universities.
  
• In June 2007, the Seattle PI followed our staff and a group of incoming international students during orientation and a tour of our campus.
  
• In July 2008, Dr. Charles H. Mitchell, then Chancellor of Seattle Community Colleges , gave an insight on the evolution of education and innovations at our institutions.
  
• In July 2007, the Institute of International Education published a brochure called EducationUSA Connections providing useful information on the role of community colleges in U.S. higher education system.
  
• In April 2008, Seattle Central held a Digital Video Conference (DVC) with the US Embassy in Tashkent [link] to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Seattle-Tashkent Sister City Relationship and present the benefits of studying at a Community College to a group of prospective students.
