Standard Admissions Process
Applying for admission to Seattle Central is fast and easy. We welcome any student who is 18 or over and a high school graduate.

Interested in a professional/technical program?
Please visit http://seattlecentral.edu/proftech/ to obtain specific information about the program you are considering. Advisers from each program are available to answer questions regarding your admission to that program.
Although Seattle Central has an open admissions policy, our professional/technical programs may have specific entrance requirements.
Running Start students:
New Running Start students may not apply by web.

Placement Testing
Students who are new to Seattle Central take a placement test called the COMPASS test, which evaluates English and math skills. This is not a graded test. It simply helps us place you in the best class to match your knowledge level. The COMPASS computerized test is available on a walk-in basis and is offered daily. The Testing Office is now located in its newly renovated, permanent space in Room 1106. Please enter the main building from the main entrance on Broadway Ave and turn right as you enter the main college hallway. The Testing Office is the first office on the right, across from the C-Store.
STAR
S.T.A.R. (Success, Training, Advising and Registration) sessions introduce students to many of the opportunities at the college and provide training in Web registration for future quarters. During S.T.A.R. appointments, students will be given the opportunity to meet with the appropriate counselor or advisor to discuss first quarter plans.
Students will be given or mailed an appointment for a S.T.A.R. session after they complete the admission process. For more information on S.T.A.R., call (206) 587-5450.
Academic Advising
Once you are enrolled at Seattle Central, you are strongly recommend to meet with an advisor during non-registration periods (Week 3 through 7 of each quarter) to develop an academic plan. College transfer students must see an advisor before or at 45 credits to develop a long-range degree plan. Advisors help you develop a long-range educational plan in these ways:
- Assist with schedule planning
- Interpret degree requirements for your transfer degree
- Interpret COMPASS and ASSET test results
- Conduct an unofficial transcript evaluation
- Discuss requirements for successful transfer into four-year institutions
- Help with researching majors

Registration
Before you can register, (enroll in classes) online, you must complete the admissions process. Please visit www.seattlecentral.edu/admissions and follow the instructions you will find there.
There are two ways to register for classes:
ONLINE
Students can register for classes using the web. Go to Student Online Services and click on "Register for Courses Online" - http://seattlecentral.edu/dept/sos.php
In Person
Go to Enrollment Services on campus
If you are new student attend a S.T.A.R. (Success, Training, Advising and Registration) Orientation.

How to pay for Classes
Tuition is due within seven business days from the date you first register for classes. If you register for classes on or after the first day of the quarter, tuition is due immediately.
There are three ways to pay tuition:
- Online via Student Online Services with a credit card, (VISA, Mastercard or Discover) at http://seattlecentral.edu/dept/sos.php.
- At the Drop Box located near Enrollment Services. Fill out the payment form, with your credit card information, or enclose a check in the payment envelope.
- In-person at the Cashier's Window in Enrollment Services with cash, check, money order, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover).

Getting an ID Card
Photo identification cards are required for new students registering for credit classes.
To get an I.D. card, go to Enrollment Services, room BE 1104D. For a one-time charge of $5, you may purchase an I.D. card at the cashier's window.
Students must have a valid identification (driver's license or passport) to obtain a college I.D.
