List of Assignments for ENG 152

  • List of Poetic and other creative writing terms.

  • Getting to Know ~ Interview of a fellow classmate. After a brief write up of the person's main relevent characteristic's, choose one of them to 'expand on'... meaning.. go ahead! Make them a spy or an escaped sabouteur, or the leader of a New York Yakuza faction. The thing is... make it interesting and use description and descretion.

  • First Lines ~ Beginning in the Middle Lines Assignment

  • Describe, in a one paragraph write up, one character from one of your 'beginning in the middle of things' lines.

  • Describe one thing you would change from your life, if you could go back and change it.

  • An Acrostic poem

  • William Blake assignment combining your own graphic art with text.

  • Archetype assignment

  • Song Lyrics ~ This was the assignment where we began to consider the relationship between politics and art. The assignment was to choose a song with lyrics that you like and that you see as political. At the middle of the end of the song, add another stanza, but one You write. Try to stay in the same rythm and style of the original writer.

  • This assignment is the one we did where you worked with a classmate to write a scenario with some sort of conflict at its center. The characters in the scenario were one of your archetype characters and one of your classmate's archetype characters.

  • Metaphor & Narrative ~ This assignment was based around the Sherman Alexie readings, where you selected some aspect from your life that makes you feel frustrated, or sad or angry. Then you came up with a metaphor that resonated with your issue.

  • Your World ~ This was the assignment where we produced a briief sci-fi world.
