The goal of this assignment is for you to use periodical databases to identify articles related to your research project. You may use articles you have already found for your final project; however, to complete this assignment you'll need to do some more searching.

Part I -- Finding Articles in Periodical Indexes:

1. Identify the best periodical databases for your topic and explain why they are suited to your research topic:

 

2.Document your experience using keywords to identify articles:

Keyword strategy	List questions/comments about your search (e.g., too many, too few, wrong keyword, etc.)	Database Name
(sample) drugs and policy	too broad -- need more specific terms	ProQuest

Part II Documenting Periodical Articles:  

1. Give the bibliographic citation in correct MLA format. If you are using the full-text from a database, your citation must include information about the database (see MLA guidelines).
2. Write an annotation for each.  Please include your evaluation of the quality, credibility, and reliability of the article. Also include your comments about the value of each article for your research project.
3. If you have to order the article from another library please say so in your notes, but be prepared to include a complete annotation in the final draft of your quarter-end project.

 

Part III Extra Credit (=1/2 of one homework assignment):  

Complete the table above and provide an MLA ciation (annotation not required) for at least one more article using a database or databases available through one of the libraries listed below:

• Seattle Public Library (card required)
• King County Library System (card required)
• University of Washington Libraries (you must be on campus at UW)

Be sure to tell me which database you used and how you got to it. You will receive extra credit only for thoughful completion of the extra credit assignment.
