Turn in a typed assignment or send as a WORD attachment. This assignment will be a revision of the topic analysis you did for your topic outline in week 2.

  1. Prepare a Topic Analysis by filling in this table (to reproduce the table, copy and paste this entire assignment into your Word document):

    Topic:

[Note: at this point you should be phrasing your ‘topic’ as a statement of position or an assertion that needs to be backed up with information. The information you seek in your research process should be defending, explaining, supporting your statement.]

    Major Concepts
    Keywords
Subject Headings (use the big red LCSH books)
Three best academic disciplines with LC Class Letters
  2. Based on your experience using the databases we explore in class on Thursday (February 5th), consider which of the databases seem to be most effective for your topic. List the best databases you discovered in class and through your own research. Experiment with a few searches in each of these databases.
  3. Write a one paragraph description of your experience using your topic analysis to conduct preliminary searches in the databases you identified.
