LIB 101 - Introduction to Information Resources - Winter 2004
Seattle Central Community College

Homework Week 6

Due: February 19

Using Library Catalogs to find Books

Your Research Topic:
Your Research Question or thesis:

Based on your Library Catalog(s) search on your own topic (as we practiced in Thursday's session), select 3 promising books and locate and examine them. Then submit a correct MLA citation and annotation for each. Please record the LCSH subject headings which best reflect your topic for each book.

Note: If you find the best books through a different library, you may submit the MLA citation and subject headings only. Once you have obtained the book, you may send the annotation separately, but you must have a complete annotation in time for the final project. We will be going to the UW libraries on February 24th so you will have a chance to view their materials at that time.

Remember to follow Annotation Guidelines. Be sure to include:

· At least one sentence explaining the author's credentials

· At least one sentence summarizing the book or stating the author's intentions in writing the book
· At least one sentence explaining how this book is relevant to your research topic/thesis.
· Your source for the book (SCCC Library, University of Washington Library, etc.)
· The call number for the book for your future reference
. The best LC Subject headings in the catalog record for each book
