The end result of this assignment will be your own personal resource directory, a wealth of information you can use on the job and share with others.  Your task is to locate community resources related to the various topics we're studying, gather information about each resource and compile it in a binder or folder.  You can choose from the topics listed on the course flow, focusing on a few topics or researching all of them.  You can utilize library reference books, the online resource directory (http://www2.ci.seattle.wa.us/CrisisClinic/), 211, Where to Turn guide, Connections (Washington Advocates for the Mentally Ill), the Alcohol/Drug Helpline, government websites (city, county or state) or other sources with which you are familiar.

To earn 70-79%, complete 1-3.  Be sure your work is neat and professional, with accurate spelling and grammar.

1.  Your binder will contain a minimum of twenty different resources, covering at least four different topics.  Please provide a table of contents.

3.  Please include a 1-2 page paper reflecting on what you learned from this assignment.  This might include comments about various types of funding, different kinds of organizations, the accessibility of information and/or services, barriers to access you identified, etc.  Also, what have you learned about the process of locating resources for clients?

To earn 80-89% complete #4 in addition to 1-3 above.

4.  Create a hypothetical client, including age, gender, parental status, family structure, income level, presenting problem, etc.  Include in your description three issues this client is facing and identify three specific agencies you think would be useful for her/him.  Explain why the agencies would be relevant.

To earn 90-100%, complete #5 in addition to 1-4 above.

5.  Contact five additional agencies by telephone to obtain information and describe your interaction with the agency.  Consider what it might be like for a client seeking services from the agency.  For example, was it easy to get the information you wanted?  Did you feel welcome?  Also, what additional information were you able to gather by talking to someone from the agency?
