ASL 123 Community Contact Hours

Goal: For you to get out of the classroom and explore any avenue of interest related to Deaf people,
the Deaf community and the languages that they use to communicate with themselves and/or the greater community.

You must earn up to 50 points in activities to receive full credit for this portion of the course.

Events and interaction = 10 points per hour

For each activity; your typed report must include the following:

***NOTE:
Videotapes and movies = 5 points per video / 1 page (with prior approval from instructor)
Books/articles/literature = 5 points per 100 pages (with prior approval from instructor).   You will need a SCCC student ID card to be able to take out a book from the ASL/ITP Lab for 4 days maximum.
Many books and publications are also available in the SCCC library, the Seattle Public Library, and the King County Library.

***
NOTE: You CANNOT earn more than 20 points on any activity/book/movie.  For instance, staying at an deaf event for four hours will earn you a maximum of 20 points, NOT 40 points.  See me if you have any questions.

Some suggestions for Community Contact Activities:
Details for these and other activities are posted on ASL/ITP Bulletin Board outside room 1129.
