What's the Sequence Instructions
:

 

1. Work in small groups of 3-5 students - each person will draw a square out of an envelope until none are left.

2. The picture on your squares are part of a story.  Study your pictures, and then leave them face down on your desk.  Take turns describing your picture but do NOT show your pictures to your group.  Together, figure out the sequence of the story based upon each person's pictures.  Once you have figured out the story, then all students are to take turns telling the story from beginning to end according to picture sequence.



How do I describe a picture in ASL??

a. Avoid English word order.
b.
Remember to visually
"paint a picture"... in general, start with the biggest     element and go down to the smallest.

c. Be sure to incorporate: topicalization
                                   : prosody
                                   : classifiers
                                   : spatial referents
                                   : idioms wherever possible
