INFLECTING  VERBS

Inflecting verbs allow the signer to indicate the subject and object by changing the direction of movement of the sign.  The verb can also be inflected to indicate the number of subjects and/or objects.

  Example of Inflecting verbs:

SHOW        ASK             TELL                HELP         GIVE

PAY           SEND           INFORM           TAKE         BORROW

 

Practice signing the inflecting verb changing the subject and object.  Be sure to incorporate topicalization  and modals where applicable.

1. Yesterday I gave you the book.                                            

2.  I’ll pay you tomorrow for the ticket.

3.  I will send you the red plaid jacket later.

4.  I told you the news.

5.  I showed you the new TTY yesterday afternoon.

6  Can I help you clean the kitchen?

7.  I’ll inform you about the rules.

8.  I want to borrow your book.

9. Did I take your chocolate candy?
