ASL 122 Deaf Culture Videotape Assignment
When you study a language, you
must also study the culture of the people who use the language. Through these
videotapes we will explore the world of Deaf people.
You will need to
watch all the videos and complete the assignments to get full credit for this
part of the course.
All videotapes are on reserve in the Media
Center in the Library and in the ASL/ITP Lab.

RESPONSE QUESTIONS
You will need to watch each video and answer the following:
· Title of the videotape
· What was the main focus of the video? Highlight 3 main issues or problems depicted in the video.
· In 3-4 sentences what did you learn from the video?
. For each movie, there is a specific question you will have to answer. See below:
1. Deaf Mosaic: Deaf President Now - While you are watching the video reflect upon the information presented in the video and the information presented in your textbook "Deaf Again". Write a paragraph that compares or contrasts the information provided from both sources.
2. An Introduction to the Deaf Community - While you are watching the video, reflect upon the information presented in the video and compare how this information parallels or differs from the information in "Deaf Again".
Each report is worth 15 points. The Tues/Thurs class will watch the 2 videos in lab while the Mon/Wed section will view these videos as an out-of-class assignment due to the two holidays falling on Monday during the winter quarter.
