Unit 7 Street Map Expressive Activity

Goal:  Giving Directions Using Referent Points
 

1.  Street map vocabulary review

        drug store           police station             fire #DEPT
     motel                  hardware store           Burger King
     tennis courts      movie theater             Rosie's Restaurant

 

2.  Take turns and jot down information on own map.  You and your partner's maps have different locations therefore in order to fill in all the nameless buildings on your map,  you need to ask your partner questions.

 

3.  Goals
              :  Sign 1st reference point (initial intersection) from your
                 perspective. 
              :  Topicalize
              :  Maintain referent points 
              :  Index final location (and which quadrant) and give further
                 information i.e.

                               NEAR
                               OPPOSITE
                               NEXT-TO
 

4.  Partner is to repeat directions
 

5.  Confirm/correct partner's directions.   Repeat directions if
        necessary.
 

6.  Complete map, then compare answers in sign!
