GIVING REASONS WHY / MAKING EXCUSES

SITUATION A: You arrive at class several minutes late.  Apologize and explain your tardiness.
 

A:   Asks classmate why s/he is late

B:   Apologizes and give reason

       --doctor appt                 --meeting with..
     --overslept                      --miss bus
     --traffic                            --look for parking in SCCC garage
     --flat tire                          --speeding ticket
     --forget homework         --not watch time

A: Respond

SITUATION B: You were absent from the last class.  Explain the reason for your absence.
