First
draft of narrative:
1. A "mental map" with at least 5 - 6 "chunks" that are related to each other (a brief story).
2. A first draft of your story. Prepare your story well!

4. Record your
sign draft in lab and then give your
VT
and Peer/Instructor
evaluation form to your
assigned
partner to take home and evaluate.
5. Peer evaluation form
is due at the next class section to give back to your partner You will then revise your story using feedback from
partner during class time. Fine tune your story for the next class
section.
Final draft of story:
1. You will record your revised narrative on your own time!
2. Before class, print out a 2nd Peer/Instructor evaluation form.

Directions for Narrative:
1a. Tell a story
about when you had a reservation for a St. Patrick's luncheon with your
significant other and his/her parents at a very nice restaurant (you create name) at 12:30 p.m.
1b. You are a single parent. It was a very important event because
you are getting married soon and meeting your future in-laws for the first time
at lunch.
1c. However, you were detained - a series of mishaps/holdups have taken
place (must
explain a minimum of 3 incidences) and you
arrived very late (you decide the time). Your cell phone was broken so you
were not able to call the restaurant to explain your delay.
1d You arrived at
the restaurant only to find that your significant other and his/her parents have
already left. You're upset and starved and decided to stay and order
lunch. Tell what you order (4-course meal) and how much you paid.
1e.
When done eating, you asked the waiter for directions to the SCCC district
office at the corner of E. Pike and Harvard. A
map will be distributed for you to refer from.
The restaurant you are at is located
at the corner of Nagle Place and Olive Way (see map). Plan your story well
- it should have substance.

2. You must include in your story the following structures:
a. At
least three new and different vocabulary signs
for
each "chunk"
from either Unit 6 and/or Unit 7 core vocabulary.
b. Emotive information in
your hands and face and body (prosody).
c. At least two
sentences with topic-comment structure
d. At least one rhetorical question
e. At least two compound signs from the list
below.
f. At least two lexicalized fingerspelled signs from the list below.
g. At least one example of role shifting
h. At least one modal
