Wh-word & Yes/No Questions Dialogue
Core Vocabulary
Units 1-2, 4-5, 6 (Time Signs)
WH-questions:
(NMGS: lower eyebrows, head
tilt, hold last sign in question)
Wh-signs:
WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHY, HOW,
HOW-MANY, WHAT'S-UP, HOW-MANY, HOW-OLD, etc.
(YOUR
CLASS WHERE?). Remember to put the WH sign at the end of your
question! There are exceptions to this rule such as "How are you?"
Yes/No questions:
(NMGS: raise eyebrows,
head tilt, hold last sign in question) "YOU WANT HOMEWORK?
("Do
you want homework?")
Negation: (head
shake, NO, NOT, NONE responses)
Confirming/Affirming Sentences: (head nod, YES, OH-I-SEE, CORRECT,
etc.)
With a partner, take turns asking and answering questions.
Be sure
to give your partner feedback if s/he forgets to incorporate non-manual grammatical
markers for either question type.
Remember
to use
response behavior
like head nods, OH-I-SEE or ask for
clarification if you do not understand your partner's signing.
