ASL 121 -
Homework Sentences #2 - "The Classroom"
Goals:
To watch how "Signer's Perspective"
is used and how spatial locatives are used in each sentence.
Signer's perspective is a strong language tool in ASL. It lets the signer
describe visual/spatial information from any view. The trick is to be able to
"see" what the signer "sees" as the view changes.
Directions:
1. Use "The Classroom" handout (print
a copy of the photo below).
2. Watch the sentences on
the video (VT in the lab/library or streamed video).
You will be given
information about the people in the handout.
3. Write down the
information next to the appropriate person on the handout (your answers are
due next week).
Note: Be sure
to watch for "signer's perspective" - the perspective will change with
each sentence.
Pay attention to
spatial locatives and palm orientation.
You can watch the streamed video of "The
Classroom" here.
