“Introduction”
Two
weeks ago I went to the birthday party of my twin 5-year-old grandchildren;
these are my daughter’s new family members.
“Aaron’s
Family”
My
daughter’s husband’s name is Aaron. Aaron
comes from a large family. He
himself has a sister and two brothers, but his mother is one of ten siblings!
That makes for an awful lot of aunts, uncles, grandparents and cousins!
They all live in the same regional area and visit with each other
regularly – they are a very close family… and big!
“Jessica’s
Family”
My
daughter Jessica comes from a small family.
In our immediate family there is just the four of us, myself, my husband
and our son and daughter. The
extended family is small as well, just a few We have aunts, uncles, and
grandparents.
Jessica
and Aaron met when they took a Physics class together while attending California
State University Northridge. Jessica
was 20 and Aaron was 21 at that time. Initially
Aaron sat behind Jessica, but later he moved to sit next to her and they talk
together in class. There was a
mutual attraction and so they began to date, and later went steady.
They fell in love and decided to get married after graduating from
college.
Three
months later Jessica and Aaron had a huge wedding.
Aaron’s large family all came to the wedding, as did Jessica’s
smaller family. Both families
intermingled and socialized; it was a very enjoyable event.
Two
years later, Jessica became pregnant. Jessica
is naturally a thin person, but she was very large during her pregnancy and
waddled about as she walked. When
the baby was due, Jessica was in labor all through the night.
To our surprise Jessica gave birth to not one, but two adorable babies
– twins! – a boy and a girl. The
boy is deaf, and the girl can hear. I
was so excited to be a grandmother. They
are our new family members.
