Credit-by-Examination provides a special
opportunity for students with extensive life experiences to
receive college credit for that knowledge. Seattle Central
recognizes the rich and varied ways individuals learn
throughout their lives and provides students the opportunity
to demonstrate academic competency by passing a course
equivalency examination.
Course equivalency examinations could be paper and pencil
examinations, but could also include oral presentations,
demonstrations, written documentation of previous training, or
other appropriate methods determined by the instructor.
Students who successfully pass such an examination will earn
college credit for the course.
You can earn college credit if you can answer Yes to the
following questions:
- Is your knowledge current?
- Does what you know correspond to courses taught at the
college?
- Is your level of competence comparable to students in
regular courses?
- Do you have both a theoretical and practical
understanding of the subject?
- Could you pass a comprehensive examination?
