Scholarship Resources

To help you achieve your career goals, the Career Exploration Center provides general scholarship search tips and navigation assistance.

The Center manages the General Scholarship List, which includes listings of scholarships based on many factors including: academic program/major, year in school, interests, ethnicity, volunteer experience, and grade point average. If you would like to share a scholarship opportunity with students, please email CareerServicesCenter@Seattlecolleges.edu

Additional scholarship leads can be found on Seattle Central’s Financial Aid webpage, including information on the Seattle Colleges Foundation Scholarship.

Scholarship Search Tools

There are many online databases students use to find scholarships to apply for. Students can use specific filters, such as college major, personal interests or ethnicity, on these databases to quickly identify the scholarships most applicable to them.
Here are a few recommended sites to try:

  • The Washboard - Specific to students in Washington State (which means potentially a smaller pool of applicants compared with sites open to students nationwide).
  • Fastweb - A lengthy database but once you create a profile, the site will automatically start filtering scholarships that are a good match for you.
  • Collegeboard - Also a very lengthy database. Students can use various filters to search for scholarships.
  • International Student - Scholarship search engine for international students. Collegeboard listed above also has a filter specific for international students.

Additional Information

The Free Application for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA) can help you pay for school by awarding you types of aid other than scholarships, such as grants, Work Study funding, loans, and more.

In fact, many scholarships require that you have applied for FAFSA or WAFSA to be eligible for scholarships. Remember to apply for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year in October to maximize your funding for the following school year.  On the Federal Financial Aid website, there are also many helpful articles addressing commonly asked scholarship questions.
