- WHAT IS THIS DEGREE?
The Bachelor of Applied Behavioral Science is a new four year baccalaureate degree at Seattle Central Community College for students who want to continue their education in the social and human services, chemical dependency, child and family studies and interpreter training fields. Our program provides comprehensive preparation for direct service practitioners. Students will develop skills in professional and ethical practice, public policy analysis, human services and behavioral sciences. Graduates of this program will be able to work in different fields of practice and qualify for pursuing higher educational degrees.
- WHAT ARE THE PRE-REQUISITES FOR THE DEGREE?
Applicants for admission to the Baccalaureate program must have completed an Associates of Applied Science (AAS) two-year degree in social and human services, chemical dependency, child and family studies or interpreter training. In addition, applicant must have completed an equivalent to ENGL&101, ENGL&102 and SHS 100 (Introduction to Human Services). Successful applicants will demonstrate a strong academic record.
- WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THIS DEGREE?
Graduation from the Baccalaureate program requires 180 credits. Students will take 60 credits of upper division Applied Behavioral Science classes, including 10 credits of supervised field placement. All classes will be in the evenings. Up to 120 lower division Social and Human Services credits will be eligible for transfer into the program.
- WHERE AND WHEN WILL CLASSES BE HELD?
All Baccalaureate classes will be held in the evenings at Seattle Central Community College on Capitol Hill.
- IS FINANCIAL AID AVAILABLE?
Yes, financial aid is available. FAFSA applications are available at SCCCs Financial Aid office, BE1104. These forms may also be found online at
www.fafsa.ed.gov/.
- WHAT IS THE APPLICATION PROCESS?
Spring Quarter 2011 BAS Admissions Deadline is NOVEMBER 15, 2010,
Fall Quarter 2011 BAS Admissions Deadline is April 30, 2010.
